There was a fig cannery in Orlando or Hamilton City that preferred these figs. They did especially well and were prized up there because they develop that superior color when the nights are cooler than further south in the valley.

I can confirm it is common, but it doesn't have an intense berry flavor for me. In fact, I can't taste any berry flavor at all. For me it is just a sugar fig.
